“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Our Journey of Faith: The History of Sto Niño de Taguig Parish

1964-1969:

  • In 1964, 18 military families from the Signal Service Corps of the Philippine Army moved from Diliman, Quezon City (now the University of the Philippines) and settled in what is now known as Signal Village. By 1965, the growing community began to desire a place of worship, leading to occasional Masses organized by local women, with priests from various seminaries.

1970-1974:

  • In 1970, the initial chapel structure was built in Zone 2 with the help of Mrs. Cynthia Zagala. By 1972, the image of Sto. Niño was formally installed as the patron of Signal Village, and fundraising activities were launched to develop the chapel.

1975-1979:

  • Between 1974-1975, various religious organizations held fundraising activities for the chapel's roof and walls. Regular Sunday Masses began, and by 1979, Fr. Moises Rebustillo was appointed as the permanent chaplain.

1980-1984:

  • In 1980, construction of the chapel continued with significant contributions from military families. By 1981, the first fiesta of Sto. Niño was celebrated. In 1986, demilitarization occurred, and Fr. Wilfredo Clarito Jundis replaced Fr. Rebustillo.

1985-1989:

  • On February 11, 1987, Sto. Niño Parish was officially established as a parish with Fr. Jundis as its first parish priest. By 1989, the Sto. Niño Catholic School was formally established, marking the beginning of the parish's educational mission.

1990-1994:

  • The 1990s saw the initiation of the Parish Renewal Experience (PREX) and the establishment of the first phase of the Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC). In 1994, Mass was permanently moved to the new church building in Zone 1.

1995-1999:

  • By 1995, Sto. Niño Parish became the center for youth catechetical retreats in preparation for World Youth Day 1995. The new Sto. Niño Church was formally inaugurated in 1996, and the parish began focusing on the Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) as a model.

2000-2004:

  • The early 2000s saw the organization of various parish councils, the evaluation and reorganization of youth ministries, and the establishment of the Finance, Formation, and Worship Ministries. Significant structural developments, such as the construction of a new convent and an adoration chapel, were also made.

2005-2009:

Fr. Salvador “Buddy” Yun became the new parish priest in 2005, followed by Fr. Paulino G. Balagtas in 2009. During this period, the parish underwent significant renovations, including the extension of the columbarium and improvements to the church structure.
