Colossians 3:23-24
“Whatever your task, work heartily, as serving the Lord and not men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you are serving the Lord Christ.”
Introduction
Devotions are an integral part of the Catholic faith, offering a way for the faithful to deepen their relationship with God and the saints. At Sto. Niño de Taguig Parish, we embrace a variety of devotional practices that reflect the rich spiritual heritage of the Filipino Catholic community.
Sto. Niño
The devotion to the Santo Niño (Holy Child) is one of the most beloved in the Philippines. The image of the Santo Niño, often depicted as a regal child, symbolizes the innocence and kingship of Christ. Our parish celebrates the Feast of Santo Niño every third Sunday of January with a grand procession, novena prayers, and a festive Mass. Parishioners are encouraged to bring their own images of the Santo Niño to be blessed during the celebration.
Our Mother of Perpetual Help
Devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help is deeply rooted in Filipino Catholic tradition. Every Wednesday, we hold a novena and Mass in honor of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. This devotion includes the recitation of the novena prayers, hymns, and the veneration of the miraculous icon. Many parishioners seek the intercession of Our Mother of Perpetual Help for various personal intentions and needs.
Divine Mercy
The Divine Mercy devotion, inspired by the visions of St. Faustina Kowalska, emphasizes God’s boundless mercy and love. Our parish observes the Divine Mercy Chaplet every Friday at 3:00 PM, the Hour of Great Mercy. This devotion includes the recitation of the chaplet, prayers, and reflections on the passion of Christ. The Divine Mercy Sunday, celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter, is a special day of grace and forgiveness for all who participate.
Simbang Gabi
Simbang Gabi, a nine-day series of dawn Masses leading up to Christmas, is a cherished Filipino tradition. These early morning Masses, held from December 16 to 24, are a way for the faithful to prepare spiritually for the birth of Christ. The festive atmosphere, beautiful decorations, and traditional Filipino Christmas songs make Simbang Gabi a unique and joyful experience.
Flores de Mayo
Flores de Mayo, or Flowers of May, is a month-long devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Throughout May, parishioners gather to offer flowers, pray the Rosary, and participate in Marian processions. The highlight of this devotion is the Santacruzan, a colorful and elaborate procession that honors the finding of the True Cross by St. Helena.
