Matthew 28:19
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Introduction
Liturgical ministries play a vital role in enhancing the worship experience and fostering active participation in the liturgy. At Sto. Niño de Taguig Parish, we are blessed with dedicated individuals who serve in various liturgical ministries, ensuring that our celebrations are meaningful, orderly, and spiritually enriching.
Ministries
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC)
The Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the priest in distributing the Eucharist during Mass and bringing Communion to the sick and homebound. They are commissioned annually and undergo regular training to deepen their understanding of the Eucharist and their role in the liturgy.
Lectors and Commentators
Lectors proclaim the Word of God during Mass, ensuring that the readings are delivered clearly and reverently. Commentators provide brief explanations and introductions to the different parts of the Mass, helping the congregation to understand and participate more fully. Both lectors and commentators receive training to enhance their public speaking and liturgical knowledge.
Altar Servers
Altar servers assist the priest during Mass by performing various tasks such as carrying the cross, holding the missal, and preparing the altar. This ministry is open to boys and girls who have received their First Communion. Altar servers receive training to ensure they perform their duties with reverence and precision.
Choir and Music Ministry
The Choir and Music Ministry lead the congregation in singing hymns and responses during Mass. They play a crucial role in creating a prayerful and uplifting atmosphere. Members of this ministry include singers, instrumentalists, and choir directors who practice regularly to provide beautiful and inspiring music for the liturgy.
Greeters and Collectors
Greeters welcome parishioners and visitors as they arrive for Mass, creating a warm and hospitable environment. Collectors assist in taking up the offertory collection during Mass. Both roles are essential in fostering a sense of community and ensuring the smooth flow of the liturgy.
Training and Formation
All liturgical ministers undergo regular training and formation to deepen their understanding of the liturgy and enhance their skills. This includes workshops, retreats, and ongoing education programs. The parish provides resources and support to help ministers grow in their faith and fulfill their roles effectively.
Commissioning
Liturgical ministers are formally commissioned during a special Mass, where they publicly commit to serving the parish community. This commissioning ceremony is a reminder of the sacred responsibility they undertake and the importance of their ministry in the life of the Church.
