Reconciliation
Introduction
The Sacrament of Reconciliation, also known as Confession or Penance, is a beautiful expression of God’s infinite mercy and love. At Sto. Niño de Taguig Parish, we invite all parishioners to experience the healing and grace that comes from this sacrament.
Procedures
Preparation
Before approaching the Sacrament of Reconciliation, it is important to prepare oneself through an examination of conscience. Reflect on your actions, thoughts, and words to identify areas where you have fallen short and need God’s forgiveness.

The Rite of Reconciliation
- Greeting: The penitent (the person confessing) greets the priest and makes the Sign of the Cross.
- Confession: The penitent confesses their sins to the priest with sincerity and humility.
- Counsel: The priest may offer words of advice and encouragement to help the penitent in their spiritual journey.
- Penance: The priest assigns a penance, which is an act of prayer, self-denial, or charity to help the penitent make amends.
- Act of Contrition: The penitent recites an Act of Contrition, expressing sorrow for their sins and a firm resolve to avoid sin in the future.
- Absolution: The priest extends his hands over the penitent and pronounces the words of absolution, forgiving the sins in the name of Christ.
- Dismissal: The priest dismisses the penitent with a blessing, encouraging them to go in peace.
Post-Confession
After receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation, it is important to promptly and devoutly fulfill the penance given by the priest. Take time to give thanks to God for the grace of forgiveness and reconciliation.
